Introduction

Farlex dictionary defines righeousness as Morally upright; without guilt or sin, In accordance with virtue or morality.

The two types of righteousness we have are 1, Righeousness of God and 2, Righteousness of man.

The righteousness acceptable by God is the confession of faith in Jesus Christ- Rm10:1-10, Phil 3:9-10.

This kind of righteousness delights God- Is 62:1-5, Rm 3:20-4:4

The righteousness of God is the attitude of God that makes Him God.

Righteousness is the opposite of sin-Rm 3:23

The righteousness of man when capitalised on before God brings condemnation-Lk18:9-14 because it stinks like a filthy rag- Isa.:64:6

No man can be established by his righteousness.

The righteousness of the law done with faith in the name of Jesus is perfect before God.

The Lord is our Righteousness.

OUR RIGHEOUSNESS( JEHOVAH TSIDKENU) hates unrighteousness, unfaithfulness, disobedience, negligence of duty, betrayal, immorality…etc.

Jer 23:5- says righteousness is the girdle of His loins.

Girdle signifies readiness and sincerity of an officer to a course.

God expects us to be righteous because in His righteous Kingdom are dominion, prosperity, justice, total safety and salvation.

Rev 19:11 says the standard of God’s judgement on the last day shall be righteousness- Are you prepared for this?

As a soldier, the breastplate helps to shield vital organs from attack and this is righteousness- Eph 6:14

For a man to be righteous in God’s site, He must cast away his righteousness and accept in totality the righteousness of God- Christ Jesus

We must seek the return of God’s judgement for the world to learn righteousness-Ps149:9, Isa 26:9.

Righteousness involves discipline:-

1, in conduct- much more than that of the Pharisees (

2, in dressing- you should be identifiable everywhere, at all times as the child of God

3, in business- not using false weights, not fraudulent, not taking bribes (police, lawyers…etc)

4, in appointments- keeping to time

5, in prayer- fervent( do not deny God fellowship)

6, in love- be genuine

7, in character- be pure

8, in school- work hard and avoid malpractices.

Evidences of Righteousness

Job1:8- humility, unassuming, open and secret shun of evil, fear of God

Declaration of the word of faith in every circumstance

Holy attitudes in all situations Rm10:8, 1cor 15:34

Serving the Lord despite blessings and establishment-Deut 6:6-12

Child training in the way of God

The type of counsel you give to people –Col 3:16

The type of seed you sow- Hos10:12-13

Evidences of unrighteousness- Ob. 15

1, Faulty foundation ( every victory attained unrighteously establishes a faulty foundation and structures built on such foundations will eventually fall apart)

2, Delay in breakthrough

3, Unanswered prayers( God cannot uphold unrigheousness with the right hand of His righteousness)

Barriers to righteousness

1, Unstable mind-

2, Bribes- money, body, gifts, ( Ex23:8, Deut 16:9

3, Lack of faith in God- Rm. 1 :16-17

4, Covetousness- Lk. 12:15

5, Overambition

6, Pride- Talents, Gifts, Opportunities, Position,

7, Eye service and Hypocricy

Benefits of righteousness- Pr. 12:28

Peace with God- Isa 26:3

Boldness to approach God-

Guarantee of eternal life

A stable and brave heart- Ps 23:3-4

Establishment- far from terror, far from oppression

Conclussion- 2 Cor 5:21, Amos 4:12Jn15:22.

Hardship, sorrows, poverty, background are no excuses for unrighteousness. If I have not come, Ye have no sin
