The Place of Communion in All Round Fruitfulness

Text- Mt. 6:9-25

Introduction:-Today I would want us to examine the subject of communion or fellowship with God. Communion as a word has its roots in two words; “common” and “union”, hence; it talks about sharing in unity and oneness. It involves heart- to- heart dialogue and sharing. It is only correctly done between two people who are united together- Amos 3:3.

1,          Relationship: - The family prayer as instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ lays emphasis on a Father- child relationship-“our Father who art in heaven” God created everything but He is only Father to those who are free from sin. The cold dead soul of the sinner cannot flow with the bubbly living Spirit of the most high God- Isa 59:1-2.

2,         Lifestyle: - “Hallowed be Thy name”
Does your lifestyle- behavior, actions, addressing, dressing, appetite and choices honour God? Do you yield to His will at all times? Remember 1San 2:30-“those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed”

3,         Motive: - Jms. 4:3-“Ye ask …….that ye may consume it upon your lust”.
Any personal agenda to foster ego found in your request to God renders it polluted. Fleshly lusts, canal desires and worldly cravings cannot be funded by God.

4,         Ignorance: - The will of God is revealed through His word. Anyone who is ignorant of this cannot pray to God properly

5,         Unbelief: - Any friendship cannot thrive in distrust. You must trust God absolutely (Heb. 11:6)
Happy moments, praise God; Difficult moments, Seek God; Quiet moments, Worship God; Painful moments, Trust God and Every moments, Thank God. Believe that even though you are not seeing Him, He is close to you for His word says so.

6,         Ingratitude: - When gratitude is shown to God, it positions the grateful to receive more. Ingratitude shuts the bowel of God’s mercies. Murmuring and complaining do not change things for the better but praise brings light and lifts the heavy gates of the darkest captivity to bring freedom.

7,         Lukewarmness: - It moves together with spiritual dryness; it robs the efficacy of prayers. You need to fire up your spiritual life to quit prayerlessness for men are expected to pray and not to faint- Lk. 18:1

8,         Unforgiveness: - God’s love and mercies forbid Him to have anything to do with the prayers from a bitter, unforgiving heart. For you to enjoy the fullness of His blessings and mercies, you must rid your heart of malice and constantly forgive all who wrong you- Mt 18:23-35 and Eph 4: 31-32

Summary: - God desires to have unending fellowship with you but all hindrance must be removed-Isa 1:16-19

Conclusion: - Examine yourself and see is any of these barriers are present. Deal with such now and begin to enjoy sweet, sacred and satisfying fellowship with the all-sufficient God.
