The Eagle and its Prey

Texts- Lk 10:19; Ps 91:1 and Mk. 16:17-18

Introduction: The eagle has very amazing characteristics that distinguishes it from other birds. It is in a class of its own. On this note, we shall be bringing out the characteristic features of the eagle as an excellent raptor/ bird of prey  and relating it to our personal lives as Christians who have been destined to be great in all aspects. Remain blessed in Jesus name.

The eagle sees its prey from afar and prepares to attack it immediately-Mt 26:41
As Christians we should not allow things to catch us unawares-

Everything the Eagle Desires For Food it sees As a “prey” even snakes and others that can attack it
  • We should always have the mindset that no matter how fierce the adversary, you are bound to overcome.
  • Do not allow yourself to be overwhelmed by life’s circumstances.
  • Adverse situation is your prey; many have bounced back to life because they refuse to accept satanic verdict of death sentence.
The Eagle Does not Give up its Prey- Rev 21:7
Christians should not give up or surrender to the enemy on any ground at all

The eagle does not wait for the prey to come rather, he goes for it- Deut 1:7-8; 2Pt 1:3
  • We should learn to set goals and work very hard to achieve them;
  • We should learn to take battles to the gate of the enemy.
The Eagle Is Not Afraid Of Anything But Man
Under no condition should we entertain fears when in pursuit of our legitimate goals.

The eagle can increase its speed from 25km/hr to about 120km/hr in an instant to swoop on its prey.
  • There may arise the need to be swift in order to achieve certain critical feats in life. Learn speed- Mt 2:13
The eagle fortifies its nest before Hunting
  • We should learn to keep our vulnerable ones out of danger to avoid surprise reprisal attacks.
The eagle has the ability to see/identify a fellow eagle soaring 50 miles away- 2Tim 2:19
  • The tenets and qualities of Christianity should not be so compromised that Christians cannot recognize themselves in the world.
The Eagle Is Kind but Firm Towards Its Eaglets
  • No matter the eagle’s ordeal with its prey, He arrives its nest with a noisy swoosh of wings but lands very slowly and gently on the edge of the eerie without disturbing the sleeping eaglets. However, the eagle does not compromise in times of judgement.

The Eagle as a Terror- Deut 2:4-5
  • When out in the lower sky, (a strange habitat), the eagle’s presence sends panic to other birds and they throng around to chase him away.
  • Don’t be deceived by many around you. You will always be an unwanted guest of unbelievers irrespective of a seeming warm reception. If you don’t get out, you will be consumed!

Defense from bitter Victims-Jn 10:11-13
  • While other birds carry their young in their feet for fear of a stronger bird who might swoop on them, the eagle fears only man who can shoot an arrow from below so, he carries his young on His wings in order to shield them with his own body.
God lead Israel by the pillars of cloud and fire. The pillars absorbed the arrows which the Egyptians hauled at them (Isaiah 53:5  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed)
Dare to be an eagle for the Lord

Conclusion
The Lord has put the seeds of greatness on the inside of you. Stir them up and put your faith to work for there is nothing impossible to him that believes.

See you at the top........
